CASE: Stanley Tillman
PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Allison Dunham, Domestic Violence Unit
Stanley Tillman was convicted by a jury of felony domestic violence, rape, criminal threats, and false imprisonment.
Tillman and the victim had been in a dating relationship. On September 25, 2015, Tillman dragged the victim out of bed by her hair and slammed her head on the ground 10 times, causing a head injury and concussion. Tillman proceeded to strangle the victim and bit her on her face and ear before raping her multiple times. The victim was able to escape out of a window, but Tillman found her and forced her back into the house where she was trapped for hours. Even though the victim was vomiting from her head injury, Tillman threatened her by saying she would not leave the house alive and he intended to watch her die.
When Tillman’s friend showed up at their residence, the victim promised Tillman she would lie to his friend about her injuries and say she was mugged. After receiving treatment for multiple injuries, the victim went to her friend’s house seeking shelter. The friend then called police.
Tillman faces a maximum potential sentence of 20 years, 8 months in prison. Sentencing is set for July 29, 2016, at 9:00 a.m. in Department 33 before the Honorable Michael Savage.
This case was prosecuted as a High Risk Domestic Violence case. The victim’s life was in extreme danger with the violence perpetrated upon her increasing in seriousness and lethality.
