District Attorney’s Office Announces Disbursement of $270,000
through the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office
Public Safety & Community Improvement Fund

On December 1, 2015, the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office, Sacramento City Attorney’s Office and the City of Rancho Cordova entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Motel 6 Operating L.P. to improve the conditions of their properties in Sacramento County and to contribute to the safety of our community through a financial investment.

This year, Motel 6 has deposited $270,000 into the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office Public Safety and Community Improvement Fund.  These funds will be distributed to local nonprofit organizations that focus on youth intervention, preventing human trafficking and serving domestic violence victims.

In addition, a “Sacramento Sheriff Deputy Danny Oliver Memorial Scholarship” has been created for Grant High School seniors interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement or the public sector. A graduate of Grant High School, Deputy Sheriff Danny Oliver was killed in the line of duty in 2014.  This scholarship is in honor of his service and commitment to improving public safety in our community.

The public is invited to join District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert as she presents checks to 17 community organizations selected to receive amounts ranging from $10,000 to $25,000.  Four Grant High School students will also be awarded a $2,500 scholarship.  Presentations will be on:

Tuesday, May 24, 2016 ~  2:00 p.m.

Board of Supervisors’ Chambers ~ 700 H Street, Sacramento

District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert states, “Our unique collaboration with the City of Sacramento and the City of Rancho Cordova to enter into an MOU with Motel 6 allowed us to invest in community programs and increase the safety of our citizens.  Through this funding, we have the ability to create positive, meaningful change throughout our region.”
