Terry Scott and Ashleigh Smith were convicted by jury of second-degree murder and assault on a child causing death.
Scott and Smith chronically abused their son, Tyrese, since his birth on April 26, 2014, until his hospitalization on July 24, 2014. Tyrese struggled to survive for two days before succumbing to his injuries. Tyrese had multiple brain traumas, 10 broken ribs in different stages of healing, eyeball hemorrhages, and a hemorrhaged testicle.
Scott and Smith face a maximum potential sentence of 25 years to life in prison. Sentencing is set for June 10, 2016, at 9:00 a.m. in Department 15 before the Honorable Kevin McCormick.
