CASE: Eric Torres
PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Omar Singh, Adult Sexual Assault Prosecution Unit
Twenty-one-year-old Eric Torres pled no contest to kidnapping to commit rape.
The 16-year-old victim was walking to a student government meeting in Antelope. Torres followed her and began to fondle her, telling her he wanted to be her boyfriend. The victim asked him to stop. Torres then got in front of her and asked her if she wanted to get raped. When the victim repeatedly screamed “no,” Torres dragged her between a tall bush and a cinder block wall. The victim was able to fight Torres off and ran to safety, where passing motorists assisted her in contacting law enforcement.
Torres faces a sentence of 7 years to life in prison. Sentencing is set for April 22, 2016, at 9:00 am in Department 28 before the Honorable James McFetridge.
