The Honorable Gerrit Wood sentenced Ryan Roberts to 26 years to life in prison. On September 21, 2015, a jury convicted Roberts of first-degree murder. The jury also found true a use of knife enhancement.
Thirteen-year-old Jessica Funk-Haslam was murdered in a dugout of a baseball field in the Rosemont Community Park in March 2012. DNA consistent with Roberts’ genetic profile was found on eight cigarette butts found near Jessica’s body and on her belt.
