On December 1, 2015, the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office, Sacramento City Attorney’s Office and the City of Rancho Cordova entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Motel 6 Operating L.P. to improve the conditions of their properties in Sacramento County and to contribute to the safety of our community through a financial investment. (see press release)
Earlier this year, Motel 6 deposited $270,000 into the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office Public Safety and Community Improvement Fund. Those funds were distributed to 17 local community organizations and four Grant High School “Sacramento Sheriff Deputy Danny Oliver Memorial Scholarship” recipients.
Motel 6 has deposited another $270,000 into the fund, of which $100,000 will be donated to the Sacramento Regional Family Justice Center (SRFJC). An additional donation of up to $50,000 will be made to match funds raised at the SRFJC’s “Hope Thrives Here!” Celebration event:
Friday, December 9, 2016 ~ 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
California State University Sacramento ~ University Ballroom
(6000 J Street, Sacramento)
Tickets: $250 per person
(see press release for additional event information)
The SRFJC is a one-stop center for families and individuals affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, elder abuse, child abuse, and human trafficking.
The remainder of the fund distributions are yet to be determined, but will continue to go toward local nonprofit organizations that focus on youth intervention, preventing human trafficking and serving domestic violence victims.
