Defendant Pleads to Multiple Sexual Assaults

DATE:  January 12, 2016

CASE:  Ibrahima Wane

PROSECUTOR:  Deputy District Attorney Shelly McGill, Adult Sexual Assault Prosecution Unit

Twenty-year-old Ibrahima Wane pled guilty to rape by force during the commission of a burglary, sodomy by force, and assault with intent to commit rape/sodomy.

On December 20, 2014, Wane followed a 68-year-old woman to her house.  As she opened her front door, he pushed her into the house, carried her to a bedroom, and sexually assaulted her.  He then took her money before fleeing.

On December 31, 2014, Wane pulled a 42-year-old woman off her bike while she was riding on a bike trail.  He struggled with the victim, causing her great bodily injury.  He then made a sexual comment to her and tried to remove her pants. Ultimately, she was able to fight him off before he could sexually assault her.

Wane faces a sentence of 35 years to life in prison.  Sentencing is set for February 23, 2016, at 8:30 a.m. in Department 63 of the Sacramento Superior Court.
