CASE: Malanje Phea
PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Shelly McGill, Adult Sexual Assault Prosecution Unit
District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert announced today that 45-year-old Malanje Phea was convicted by jury of sexual penetration with a child under 16, oral copulation with a child under 16, multiple counts of lewd act with child under 14, multiple counts of lewd act with a child 14 or 15 years, furnishing cocaine to a minor, and furnishing ecstasy to a minor.
From 1996 to 2009, Phea sexually abused various minor female family members. In 2012, one of the minors reported the abuse to law enforcement. Through subsequent investigation, all victims were identified.
Phea faces a maximum potential sentence of 48 years in state prison. Sentencing is scheduled for October 16, 2015, in Department 29 before the Honorable Timothy Frawley.
