CASE: Wade Stevenson
PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Jennifer Kennedy, Major Narcotics Unit
District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert announced that Wade Stevenson was convicted by jury of manufacturing concentrated cannabis and recklessly burning an inhabited structure.
On January 22, 2014, firefighters responded to reports of a loud explosion and fire at an apartment on Mills Tower Road in Rancho Cordova. Law enforcement located an illegal butane honey oil extraction lab in the bathroom of a ground floor apartment. The blast blew out a neighboring apartment’s wall and window.
Stevenson was set on fire during the explosion and taken to the UC Davis Medical Center’s burn unit. As a result of the structural damage caused by the explosion, the apartment complex’s electrical, gas and water supply had to be discontinued. As a result, 146 tenants were displaced from their homes.
Stevenson faces a maximum potential sentence of 8 years in prison. Sentencing is set for October 2, 2015, in Department 20 before the Honorable Michael Sweet.
