District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert announced that Severo Rosel Franco was convicted by jury of committing sexual acts against a child age 10 years old or younger, committing lewd acts on a child under the age of 14 by use of force and fear, aggravated sexual assault of a child, child abuse, rape, sexual penetration by a foreign object, assault with intent to commit rape and burglary. The jury also found true that Franco committed sexual offenses against more than one victim.
Franco committed the crimes against three victims between 2005 and 2010. He then fled to Mexico. The Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office sought extradition. Franco was returned to Sacramento in 2013 after the government of Mexico granted the extradition.
Franco faces a maximum potential sentence of more than 100 years to life in prison. Sentencing is set for May 29, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. in Department 37 of the Sacramento Superior Court.
