CASE: Charles Brown
PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Bruce Chang, Special Assault & Child Abuse Unit
District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert announced that Charles Brown (age 55) was convicted by jury of four counts of committing lewd and lascivious acts upon a child under 14 years of age, one count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor under 16 years of age and failure to register as a sex offender.
Brown molested a developmentally delayed 15-year-old female family member between 2009 and 2012. The victim found the courage to disclose the abuse to a school friend, who told her mother. The friend’s mother called Child Protective Services and Brown was arrested.

He faces a maximum potential sentence in excess of 150 years to life in prison under California’s Three Strikes Law. Sentencing is set for May 22, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. in Department 13 before the Honorable Matthew Gary.
