CASE: Pavel Postelnyak
PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Donell Slivka, Homicide Unit
District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert announced today that the Honorable Geoffrey Goodman sentenced Pavel Postelnyak to 50 years to life in prison. On March 19, 2015, a jury convicted Postelnyak of first-degree murder and personally discharging a firearm resulting in death.
On May 18, 2014, Postelnyak shot Anthony Johnson in the area of Auburn Boulevard near Garfield Avenue. Both had reported to work at Democracy Resources. Although they worked at the same company, the two did not know each other and the shooting was unprovoked. Johnson died later that day in the hospital.
