CASE: Willie West
PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Laura Froome, High Risk Prosecutor - Domestic Violence Unit
District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert announced that Willie West was convicted by jury of rape, forced oral copulation, sexual penetration with a foreign object, assault with a deadly weapon, assault on a cohabitant causing a traumatic condition and false imprisonment.
In December 2014, West became angry with a woman he was dating. He beat her severely with a belt before raping her, forcing her to orally copulate him and sexually assaulting her with a screwdriver.
Deputy District Attorney Laura Froome thanked the victim for her courage and the detailed investigation conducted by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department.
West faces a maximum potential sentence of 27 years in prison. Sentencing is set for May 15, 2015 in Department 38 before the Honorable Sharon Lueras.
