PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Kevin Greene, Homicide Unit
District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert announced today that the Honorable Greta Curtis Fall sentenced Marquon Vasquez to 56 years to life in prison and Shoreem Bryant to 51 years to life in prison.
Last month, a jury convicted Bryant of first-degree murder and attempted premeditated murder. The jury also found true an arming and gang allegation. Vasquez was convicted by a separate jury of second-degree murder, attempted voluntary manslaughter and being a felon in possession of a firearm. The jury also found true a personal use of a firearm causing death allegation.
On March 22, 2013, deputies responded to gunshots being fired at the Cambridge Park apartment complex in Foothill Farms. Deandra Horton was found dead at the scene. Vasquez attempted to shoot and kill Tionee Duncan, who was next to Ms. Horton at the time. Ms. Horton was struck and died from a gunshot wound. Mr. Duncan was also shot, but survived his injuries.
