CASE: Johnathan Ball
PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Nancy Cochrane, Special Assault & Child Abuse Unit
District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert announced that the Honorable Ernest Sawtelle sentenced Johnathan Ball to 53 years to life in prison. On December 9, 2014, a jury convicted Ball of 10 counts of child molestation charges. He also has a previous first-degree burglary conviction from 2010.
Ball molested a female family member for two years when she was between the ages of 10 and 12. The assaults included fondling, digital penetration and sexual intercourse, which resulted in the victim becoming pregnant when she was 12 years old. The jury also found true the allegation that Ball personally inflicted great bodily injury based on the resulting pregnancy.
