PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Frederick Gotha, Domestic Violence Unit
District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert announced that Cordell Jones was convicted by jury of
multiple domestic abuse charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, battery causing serious
bodily injury, felony domestic violence, and assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury.
On September 26, 2014, Jones assaulted the victim by attacking her with a knife, threatened to
kill her and her family members, punched the victim repeatedly in the face, strangled her two
times, and punched her in the face and mouth with a set of metal keys.
Jones has prior convictions for domestic assaults that occurred in 2007 and 2013. He faces a
maximum sentence of 19 years in state prison. Sentencing is set for February 11, 2015 in
Department 19 before the Honorable Patrick Marlette.
