Case: Marvin Todd
Contact: Deputy District Attorney Dinah Mielke, Misdemeanors Unit
Seventy-two-year-old psychotherapist Marvin Todd was convicted by jury of sexual battery, sexual exploitation, and battery in separate assaults against two patients.
On February 17, 2014, Todd touched the breast of a female patient without her consent during a psychotherapy session. On March 13, 2014, Todd walked a second female patient into the lobby after an evening counseling session and forcibly kissed her. The victim attempted to push him away, but was unsuccessful. When Todd forcibly kissed her again, the victim was able to push him off and break his hold.
As part of the investigation of this case, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department established a tip hotline. A number of additional female clients who experienced sexually inappropriate behavior by Todd during counseling sessions were identified.
Todd faces a maximum potential sentence of two years in county jail and registration as a sex offender. Sentencing is set for November 12, 2015, in Department 18 by the Honorable Cheryl Meegan.
