Former Teacher Convicted for Sexual Acts with Student

John Young pled no contest to committing a sexual act with a person under 18 years of age. 

John Young was a teacher at Sheldon High School where the 17-year-old victim attended school.  Young began an inappropriate relationship with the victim, culminating in a sexual act between the two of them.  The relationship was discovered when a victim’s family member found text messages between the two, which referenced the inappropriate relationship and sexual conduct.

Young faces a maximum sentence of 3 years in prison.  Sentencing is set for October 16, 2017, at 8:30 a.m. in Department 8 before the Honorable Lawrence Brown.
