Defendant Convicted of Felony Child Abduction

CASE:  Erin Elizabeth Hale (Case #15F07327)

PROSECUTOR:  Deputy District Attorney Heidi Brennan, Child Abduction Unit

Erin Elizabeth Hale pled no contest to felony deprivation of child custody or visitation.  The Honorable Geoffrey Goodman sentenced Hale to 6 months county jail and 5 years probation. 

On November 6, 2015, Erin Elizabeth Hale abducted her son and moved him to various areas in California before fleeing to Kentucky then New Jersey.  Hale and her son arrived in New Jersey by bus.  A taxi dispatcher reported her to local police after he discovered she was wanted for felony child abduction. 

After a lengthy search by the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Child Abduction Unit, with help from the U.S. Marshals Child Abduction Task Force and National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, Hale was arrested in New Jersey on August 24, 2016.
