Defendant Sentenced for 17 Counts of Child Molestation

DATE:  January 23, 2017

CASE:  Daniel Miller (Case #15F01272)

PROSECUTOR:  Deputy District Attorney Lindsey Severi, Special Assault & Child Abuse Unit

The Honorable Shelleyanne Chang sentenced Daniel Miller to 40 years in prison.  On April 27, 2016, a jury convicted Miller of 17 counts of child molestation.

Miller was a family friend of the then 12-year-old female victim.  In 2014, Miller began molesting the victim while the two were alone at secluded locations and in the garage of his house.  Over the course of a year, Miller’s sexual assaults escalated to oral copulation and digital penetration.   Miller told the victim not to tell anyone because it would break up the family.  Ultimately, the victim told a friend and that friend told a school counselor.
