Defendant Sentenced for Attempted Murder

The Honorable Steve White sentenced Demarea Fulbright to 63 years to life in prison.  On May 18, 2018, a jury convicted Fulbright of attempt murder with personal discharge of firearm causing great bodily injury, two counts of robbery with personal use of firearm, and assault with a firearm.

On February 4, 2016, Fulbright and two other perpetrators went to the victim’s home to purchase a gaming system.  The victim’s wife, mother-in-law, and three young children were home at the time.  Once inside the home, Fulbright and his associates pulled out guns and held the victim’s wife and mother-in-law at gun point as they robbed them of money, electronics, and medication.  During the robbery, the victim struggled with Fulbright over the gun.  Fulbright shot the victim several times before fleeing.  The other associates also shot the victim as they fled the house.  The victim was shot between eight and 11 times. 

Fulbright was on probation for a misdemeanor domestic violence conviction at the time of this offense.
