DATE:  August 10, 2015

CASE:  Alejandro Arroyo

PROSECUTOR:  Deputy District Attorney Michelle Becker, Career Criminal Prosecution Unit

District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert announced that the Honorable Donald Currier sentenced 21-year-old Alejandro Arroyo to 7 years, 4 months in prison.  On June 30, 2015, a jury convicted Arroyo of two counts of first-degree residential burglary.

Between January 10, 2014 and March 12, 2014, a series of seven residential burglaries were committed in homes on the levee in the River Park community.

One of the victims had his home burglarized three times.  His house was ransacked and close to $20,000 worth of valuables were stolen, including a medallion.  The second break in was caught on surveillance. Police responded quickly, but the suspects were not caught.

Another victim returned home to find the power shut off and he could not get into his garage. When he was able to get into the house, he found it had been ransacked and the back glass door had been shattered.  A flat screen TV and two rifles were stolen along with other valuable, irreplaceable items worth close to $19,000
