Case of Interest: Christopher Bernal & Jacob Fisher

District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert announced today that 34-year-old Christopher Bernal and 22-year-old Jacob Fisher were convicted by jury of first-degree murder.  The jury also found true that both defendants were armed with a firearm during the commission of the offense.

On January 18, 2014, the defendants went to the Sienna Square Apartments in Carmichael. Upon finding Justin Gonzales in the apartment’s courtyard, they beat him to the ground and shot him in the back of the neck. The defendants had prior conflicts with the victim.

Bernal and Fisher both face a maximum potential sentence of 25 years to life in prison, plus one year.  Sentencing is set for July 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Department 10 before the Honorable Greta Curtis Fall.
