CASE: Tyrie Tholmer
PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Thien Ho, Homicide Unit
District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert announced today that Tyrie Tholmer was convicted by jury of the first-degree murder of Dominque Baker. The jury also found true that Tholmer personally used a firearm during the crime and committed the murder in association with, and for the benefit of, the Meadowview Bloods.
Tholmer had prior conflicts with the victim’s family. In the early evening hours of November 7, 2012, he went to Mr. Baker’s residence and fired multiple shots at his cousin. Mr. Baker, who suffered from Cerebral Palsy, was sitting in a wheelchair next to his cousin. He was caught in the crossfire and died from multiple gunshot wounds later that night. As Tholmer fled the scene, the victim’s cousin fired multiple shots back in self-defense and struck Tholmer in the leg.
Tholmer faces a maximum potential sentence of 50 years to life in prison. Sentencing is set for June 12, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. in Department 10 of the Sacramento Superior Court.
