5.26.15: Case of Interest: Kasey Valli

DATE: May 26, 2015

CASE: Kasey Valli

PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Michelle Becker, Career Criminal Prosecution Unit

District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert announced that the Honorable Ben Davidian sentenced 32-year-old Kasey Valli to 10 years, 8 months in prison.  On March 13, 2015, Valli pled no contest to felony evading pursuing peace officers, driving under the influence causing bodily injury, a multiple victim injury enhancement and a hit and run with injury prison prior.

On December 6, 2014, CHP officers observed Valli driving approximately 110mph on Interstate 50.   They pursued Valli, who was using the shoulder to pass other vehicles.  He finally exited at Mather Field Road, but failed to yield to pursuing officers.  After running two red lights, he collided with another car.  The driver and passenger of that car suffered moderate injuries.  Valli failed to stop after the collision and re-entered I-50, reaching speeds of 95mph. The pursuit continued off the freeway to Hazel Avenue, where he blew two tires.  He eventually stopped the car on Paseo Drive and fled on foot.  A K-9 officer found Valli hiding and he was apprehended.

Deputy District Attorney Michelle Becker commends the victims for their assistance and courage in this case after suffering such a traumatic event.

Valli’s prior criminal history includes a 2002 and 2004 felony burglary conviction and a 2007 felony evading a police officer conviction.
