Case of Interest: Cedric Holland

DATE: April 27, 2015

CASE: Cedric Holland

PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Shelly McGill, Adult Sexual Assault Prosecution Unit

District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert announced that Cedric Holland (age 27) was convicted by jury of eight counts of lewd and lascivious acts on a child under 14 years old, three counts of oral copulation with a child 10 years old or under, showing a minor harmful material, kidnapping, kidnapping with the intent to commit a lewd and lascivious act on a child under 14 years old and a multiple victim enhancement.

From 2011 to 2013, Holland molested a friend’s two sons when they were 6 to 8 years old and 7 to 9 years old. On May 11, 2013, Holland followed a 7-year-old girl he did not know over a period of four hours.  When she was walking home, Holland grabbed her, threw her into the trunk of his car and sped off.   The victim was able to escape by pulling an emergency handle to open the trunk and rolling out onto the ground.  Surveillance and DNA evidence linked Holland to the scene.

In 2006, Holland was convicted of committing a lewd act upon a child.   In 2011, he was convicted of failing to register as a sex offender.

Deputy District Attorney Shelly McGill states, “Thanks to the courageous victims and devoted Sacramento County sheriff’s detectives, a dangerous individual has been held responsible for the crimes he committed and our community is a safer place.”

Holland faces a maximum potential sentence of 414 years to life plus 12 years in state prison.  Sentencing is set for May 8, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. in Department 15 before the Honorable Kevin McCormick.
