Case of Interest: Tanisha Edwards

DATE: March 6, 2015

CASE: Tanisha Edwards

PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Eric Kindall

District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert announced today that the Honorable Greta Curtis Fall sentenced Tanisha Edwards to 11 years in state prison. On February 5, 2015, Edwards pled no contest to felony child endangerment under circumstances likely to produce great bodily harm or death, and three counts of perjury.  She also admitted she served two prior prison terms.

Edwards would not produce her one-year-old child, Dwight Stallings, for Child Protective Services (CPS) after she gave a positive drug test.  When questioned under oath about Dwight’s whereabouts before a referee and judge in Family Court, she gave inconsistent answers, including that she had given the child to virtual strangers.  Dwight’s whereabouts remain unknown to this day, almost four years after his disappearance.
