Case of Interest: Marcaill Wormley

DATE: January 30, 2015

CASE: Marcaill Wormley

PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Carlton Davis, Gangs & Hate Crimes Unit

District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert announced today that the Honorable Sharon Lueras sentenced Marcaill Wormley to 95 years, 4 months to life in state prison.  On December 18, 2014, a jury convicted Wormley of first-degree murder, hit and run, evading police and witness intimidation for the benefit of a criminal street gang.

During the early morning hours of December 23, 2013, Wormley got into a fight with the victim, Branden Anderson.  Mr. Anderson left the scene after winning the fight.  When he returned several minutes later to retrieve his phone and jacket, Wormley shot him numerous times. Wormley was arrested several days later following a high speed police chase.  He then tried to intimidate witnesses from testifying.
