District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert announced today that the Honorable Kevin McCormick sentenced Dion Johnson Sr. to 20 years, plus 50 years to life in state prison.  On November 20, 2014, a jury convicted Johnson of two counts of bank robbery.  The jury also found true that Johnson had previously been convicted of assault with a deadly weapon and robbery, bringing him within the provisions of California’s Three Strikes law.   

On September 6, 2011, three men entered First Bank on Howe Avenue and committed a take-over style robbery.  Two of the men were dressed in security outfits.  The other man wore coveralls and covered his mouth with a dust mask.  The men were able to flee with over $5,000.  Johnson was identified through phone records and his vehicle description. 

On September 12, 2011, two men dressed in camouflage committed a take-over style robbery at the California Community Credit Union in Elk Grove and fled with approximately $18,000.  Johnson was implicated in this robbery through phone records and witnesses identifying his vehicle in the area.
