CASE:   Ernest Polk

PROSECUTOR:  Deputy District Attorney Kristen Ilharreguy, Targeting Armed Recidivist Gang Enforcement Team (TARGET)

The Honorable Lawrence Brown sentenced 27-year-old Ernest Polk to 7 years, 8 months in prison.  On November 13, 2015, a jury convicted Polk of being a felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of heroin and methamphetamine for sale while armed with a firearm.  The jury also found true allegations that Polk committed the offenses for the benefit of a criminal street gang.

On March 24, 2015, Polk attempted to discard a loaded firearm when he was contacted by law enforcement. After Polk was arrested, he was searched at the jail where officers found heroin and methamphetamine on him.
