DATE:  December 14, 2015

CASE:  Ronald Olson

PROSECUTOR:  Deputy District Attorney Morgan Forrest, Special Investigations Unit

The Honorable Laurel White sentenced 60-year-old Ronald Olson to 180 days in county jail and 5 years formal probation.  On November 16, 2015, Olson pled no contest to grand theft.

Olson was an employee with the City of Sacramento for 33 years.  At the time of his arrest, he was the acting police administrative manager for the police department’s property division.  Part of his responsibilities included the disposal of unclaimed property that had previously been booked into the property division by police officers.  Between 2011 and 2015, Olsen removed numerous unclaimed items for his own personal use.  Stolen property was recovered at his home.  Olson admitted the theft and was cooperative with the investigation.
