Pair Sentenced for Child Sexual Assault, Human Trafficking, Pornography Charges

DATE:  November 20, 2015

CASE:   Daniel White & Marcel Johnson

PROSECUTOR:  Deputy District Attorney Monica Robinson, Special Assault & Child Abuse Unit

The Honorable Kevin McCormick sentenced Daniel White and Marcel Johnson to 28 years in prison.  On September 2, 2015, the Court convicted White and Johnson of multiple counts of lewd acts with a child under 14, human trafficking of a child under 14, using a minor to pose for child pornography, and furnishing marijuana, methamphetamine, and cocaine to a minor.

From April 30, 2014 to May 6, 2014, Johnson and White persuaded a 13-year-old girl to leave her home and prostitute for them.  Within an hour of driving away from her house, they both sexually assaulted her.  The defendants rented a motel room and took sexually explicit photos of her to post on a prostitution website.  They prostituted the victim to more than 20 men.   White gave the victim marijuana, methamphetamine, and cocaine to lower her inhibitions.  Sacramento Police Department detectives with the Safe Streets Task Force discovered the online advertisement for the victim, who was reported missing by her family. Detectives posed as a “John” and found the victim in a Sacramento motel room.
