Child Sex Offender Sentenced to 46 Years

PROSECUTOR:  Deputy District Attorney Shelly McGill, Adult Sexual Assault/Special Assault & Child Abuse Unit

The Honorable Timothy Frawley sentenced 45-year-old Malanje Phea to 46 years, 4 months in prison.  On August 25, 2015, a jury convicted Phea of sexual penetration with a child under 16, oral copulation with a child under 16, multiple counts of lewd act with child under 14, multiple counts of lewd act with a child 14 or 15 years, furnishing cocaine to a minor, and furnishing ecstasy to a minor.

From 1996 to 2009, Phea sexually abused various minor female family members.  In 2012, one of the minors reported the abuse to law enforcement.  Through subsequent investigation, all victims were identified.
