Law Enforcement Intern Program

The Bureau of Investigations sponsors an internship program for local university and college students. The number of positions varies between semesters priority is given to undergraduate students in their senior year and to postgraduate students working on a master's degree.

For consideration, please contact the District Attorney's Office at (916) 874-7000. It is advisable to call as early as possible and prior to the beginning of the semester to ensure placement.

It is also necessary that the criminal justice coordinator from the school provide documentation introducing the student and confirming their participation in the program for credit.

The student will be required to fill out a shortened version of an employment application and will be subject to a criminal justice check for criminal history and active warrants.

The student will be assigned to work under the direction of a member of the investigative staff who will provide appropriate training. All assignments must be completed in a satisfactory and timely manner. Students will be required to work a minimum of eight hours per week as scheduled by Investigator Maloney. Failure to meet the standards set for this program will result in a non-passing grade.
