Vehicle Theft Unit

The Vehicle Theft Unit is responsible for reviewing and prosecuting serious vehicle theft crimes, including but not limited to:

The team's large trial caseload involves primarily two- and three-strike cases, including homicides involving potential death penalty allegations. Other responsibilities of the team includes:

  • Carjackings
  • "Chop Shops"
  • Three-strikes vehicle thefts
  • Vehicle thefts involving high-speed chases resulting in injury or death
  • Vehicle thefts committed by individuals who have already been twice convicted of vehicle theft
