Community Relations/ Youth Programs
District Attorney Youth Academy
The District Attorney Youth Academy is a program in partnership with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, Sacramento Police Department, Sacramento County Probation Department, Rancho Cordova Police Department, Elk Grove Police Department and Galt Police Department.
Students actively learn about the criminal justice system, hear from our criminal justice partners, and engage in open communication between law enforcement and themselves concerning issues that affect youth today. Students are also educated on such topics as gangs, social media, and distracted driving.
Classes will be held twice a month in the evenings from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at FOUR locations on different days of the week:
SOUTH AREA: Thursdays - September 27, 2018 to March 21, 2019 ~ Dr. Ephraim Williams Family Life Center (4036 14th Avenue, Sacramento 95820) - CLOSED
NORTH AREA: Tuesdays - September 18, 2018 to March 12, 2019 ~ Trinity Life Center (5225 Hillsdale Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95842) - CLOSED
EAST AREA: Wednesdays – September 19, 2018 to April 10, 2019 ~ Rancho Cordova Police Department (2897 Kilgore Road, Rancho Cordova 95670) - CLOSED
ELK GROVE/GALT AREA: Mondays - September 24, 2018 to April 8, 2019 ~ Elk Grove City Council Chambers (8401 Laguna Palms Way, Elk Grove 95758) - CLOSED
*An optional one day field trip is scheduled to tour the Sacramento Superior Court
The program is open to current Sacramento County high school students. Eligible students can apply for either the South, North, East or Elk Grove/Galt area academy. They must submit a completed application, signed permission slip and signed Code of Conduct agreement. Space is limited and on a first come, first served basis.
